On a more macro level, studying for prelims is like attaining nirvana, study and practise such that you can own any question that you see, can utter any definition and can do an essay by just looking at it.
In the process, it seems like many social bonds are weakened. Like any group under great mental and physical stress, all social units are somehow degraded and reduced to the very basic of units. Really noticed it in this prelims. It seems like many people have left my life and I notice groups getting smaller and smaller down to the individual.
Sort of reminds me of the homeworld storyline. The Kushans went on an ardous journey from their homeworld to the desolate Kharak. The journey was tough and it reduced all social fraternities to the family level. From then on, the society follows the family unit system and each family taking care of themselves with little "friends" outside the families.
This sorta happened throughout the prelims, in the quest for nirvana, many were reduced to individuals. Seems like its part and parcel of the system, its all up to you.
Only the strongest of all bonds remain in great pressure.
